THE LEGACY OF MAYA EVANS

On May 3, 2018, after a courageous battle with leukemia, the world lost a remarkable young woman—and SCV lost its original lacrosse trailblazer. But her spirit, her energy, and her impact continue to live on in every player she inspired.

Maya Evans was more than a standout athlete—she was a pioneer. As the first girls high school lacrosse player from SCV to truly make her mark in Southern California, she helped put her community on the map. From the moment she picked up a stick at West Ranch High School in 2014, she played with passion, purpose, and heart. Her dedication earned her the respect of everyone around her—Varsity Captain, MVP, Teammate of the Year, and a two-time 1st Team All-League selection.

Maya was admired by her teammates and left a lasting impact on every opponent she faced. She led not just with talent, but with character. She pushed herself to be better every day—on the field, in the classroom, and in life—and she inspired those around her to do the same.

Her message was simple, but powerful: P.V.O. — Positive Vibes Only. That mindset became her legacy.

Vibe Lacrosse was created in her honor—to carry forward Maya’s energy, her love for the game, and her unwavering belief in growth, positivity, and hard work. Through every practice, every game, and every athlete who wears the Vibe jersey, Maya’s spirit continues to inspire the next generation to chase greatness and uplift those around them.
